He has been a student at the University of Sussex since 2014 as a Law with Business Management LLB undergraduate, before completing his LLM in Law in 2019.

Research

Chay's doctoral research focuses on the development of assisted dying law and policy. Specifically, as more jurisdictions in the Commonwealth are changing their legal position on assisted dying practices it opens a discussion as to whether there are justifiable reasons why the laws in England & Wales have not experienced a similar change. The research aims to explore the relationship between 'law and society' across different contexts with empirical research methods to reveal and examine the factors that influence radical legal reform.

His research interests predominantly focus on medical law, policy and regulation; bioethics; criminal law and criminology; comparative and empirical research methodology.

Teaching

Chay is currently working alongside Dr Tilly Paz in the planning, design, and delivery of the MSc Public Health programme. He has diverse teaching experience delivering lectures and facilitating seminars/workshops for students of different ages across various levels of higher education. Chay has also been working as a Doctoral Tutor at the University of Sussex Law School for the last 2 years, teaching first and second year modules to undergraduate law students.
