Dr Ellie Broughton, 2008 graduate, has been selected for higher professional training in neurosurgery. She went through a highly competitive application process as there are only 18 positions available across the UK.

Ellie was placed sixth in the country and will be working on the South West rotation.  Ellie was committed to neurosurgery from her first few years at BSMS, due to an instinctive interest in the brain. She spent her elective studying neurosurgery in Hong Kong and  6 weeks in her final year at the neurosurgical unit at Haywards Heath.

She says:

"After six years of dreaming about becoming a Neurosurgeon I have finally achieved it and been offered an eight-year training contract. This is now the beginning of the biggest challenge I have faced and I look forward to embracing what lies ahead and hopefully offering something special to the future of neurosurgery."
