Fourth year BSMS student Caroline Illingworth was recently awarded the Dame Josephine Barnes Obstetrics & Gynaecology Essay prize for her essay on 'The role of men in reproductive healthcare' at a prize evening at the Royal Society of Medicine.
She said:
"I was really pleased to be awarded a prize and it was an honour to be able to represent BSMS at a National Conference. BSMS has given me a fantastic experience at medical school so far and I hope that in return I have helped to raise the profile of BSMS."
"Obstetrics has always been a particular interest of mine and this was confirmed during my elective in Samoa (see above) where I was able to assist in delivering several babies. I am inspired by the specialty as it is challenging, competitive and yet incredibly rewarding, allowing you to build personal relationships with patients at a very special time of their lives."
