Primary Care Research Facilitator

Primary Care Research Network South East (PCRN-SE) is looking for a Primary Care Research Facilitators to join their dynamic team as they work to support Primary Care Research across Surrey and Sussex. This is an exciting time to be involved in the facilitation of research in this area as national and international multicentre studies; industry-led studies and local academic-led research together produce a local portfolio of over 25 studies.
The PCRN is part of the National Institute for Health Research, Clinical Research Network (NIHRCRN) which aims to improve the speed, quality and integration of clinical research through the successful delivery of clinical trials and other well designed studies within the NHS.
The successful applicants will be educated to degree level. You must be able to demonstrate experience of clinical trials or health-related research, preferably in a primary care setting in addition to knowledge of planning and co-ordinating research studies. We welcome applications from research nurses.
We are looking for candidates with excellent interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for taking this role forward and dealing with a range of primary care and NHS professionals, clinicians, academics and study teams.
The central team is based at Brighton and Sussex Medical School in Falmer. However, as this post will cover our Surrey hub, there is the potential to work largely from a base in Surrey. You will be required to work across the counties and have access to a car for work purposes.

Divisional Assistant to the Chair of Paediatrics

Brighton and Sussex Medical School invites applications for the post of Divisional Assistant to the Chair of Paediatrics.
The purpose of this role is to provide administrative and secretarial support for the Chair of Paediatrics, and to provide organisational support for the academic activities within the academic department of Paediatrics.
Based at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton, the post-holder will make an important contribution to the Medical School and the academic activities at the Children’s Hospital. You will possess excellent organisational, secretarial and administrative skills, including fast, accurate keyboard skills, a working knowledge of spreadsheets and networked email. You will have previous experience working in a busy academic, healthcare or commercial environment.

NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology

Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is pleased to offer a Clinical Lectureship in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology under the National Institutes for Health Research (NIHR) programme. The post will allow an ID/Microbiology Specialist Trainee who has already completed a higher research degree (or equivalent training) and a period of clinical training to have protected time to develop academic skills.
Applications are invited from individuals in training who can demonstrate potential for development as a clinical academic. Applicants should be within 2 years of completing higher specialist training. The post holder will spend 50% of their time undertaking research and teaching at BSMS and 50% in clinical training in the Brighton, Sussex and Surrey Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Training Programme. Research activities will be based at either the BSMS Medical Research Building or the newly established Clinical Investigation and Research Unit. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to the undergraduate teaching programme in ID/Microbiology. Medical Statistician
This is an exciting opportunity to join the research team at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals in collaboration with Brighton & Sussex Medical School. The postholder will be part of the Clinical Investigation & Research Unit (CIRU) support team which supports researchers in translational research in a range of disciplines including infection & inflammation, immunology, nephrology, dementia and cancer. The main purpose of this post is to provide support to the Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH) and Brighton & Sussex Medical School’s (BSMS) research programme across all divisions and to deliver projects and grant applications.
The postholder is also expected to develop a research portfolio including external grant development to add to the academic achievement of the CIRU. It is expected that the postholder will help mentor investigators in the use of statistics and provide training for staff.
Salary will be NHS Band 7 £34 - £40,000
