This year’s speaker is Dr Richard Horton FRCP FMedSci. Dr Horton became Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet in 1995. He was the first President of the World Association of Medical Editors and a Founder Fellow of the UK’s Academy of Medical Sciences. In 2007, he received the Edinburgh Medal for professional achievements judged to have made a significant contribution to the understanding of human health and wellbeing.

He has been a medical columnist for The Observer, writes regularly for the Times Literary Supplement and New York Review of Books and has published a book about controversies in modern medicine. He has a strong interest in global health issues and enjoys cooking and arguing.
