bsms/bsuh symposium

Brighton and Sussex Medical School, in partnership with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, held the Fifth Annual Research Symposium on 16 November 2007.

The theme for this year was Cancer Research. The day featured presentations from a selection of speakers who have been carrying out varied and high-profile research in areas such as imaging, chemo- and radiotherapy, DNA repair and psychosocial oncology.

There were also poster presentations and demonstrations of equipment.

Professor Kevin Davies, who introduced one of the sessions, said

'It was a pleasure to be involved in the fifth BSUHT / BSMS research day. Cancer is something which may affect us all one day. It is an area in which BSMS plans to invest further, and it is clear from the variety and quality of Friday's presentations that BSMS, in partnership with local NHS colleagues, has the potential to evolve into a research centre of true international standing in the world of cancer.'
