after the degree

Your degree in medicine will equip you with the knowledge and both clinical and personal skills you will need to progress to the next stage of your training – the first ‘Foundation’ or pre-registration year.
This will normally be undertaken in hospitals within the area of the south-east region served by BSMS and will include a formal BSMS-supervised postgraduate training programme to guide you through to full registration.
Successful completion of the F1 year will qualify you for registration with the General Medical Council as a medical practitioner.
The options and student-selected components in year 5 will give you the chance to gain insights into areas of clinical practice not covered in the core curriculum and will help equip you to progress to a wide variety of career opportunities including general practice or specialisation as a hospital consultant.
