Information, advice and skills to maximise your UCAS application to study medicine
April 13-15: St. Georges Hotel, Chatham, Kent
July 12-14: Queen Mary College, Basingstoke, Hampshire
July 15-17: St. Mary’s Hospital Education Centre, Portsmouth, Hampshire
BSMS is keen to work with young people from outside of Sussex who aspire to be doctors. With this in mind BSMS has taken elements of its highly successful outreach programme and created the BrightMed roadshow.
The roadshow will be hosted by Darren Beaney, lead on widening participation and outreach at BSMS, senior member of BSMS Admissions Team and Admissions Board member. He will be joined by six BSMS students currently in years 2, 3 and 4 of their studies.
The roadshow is free and is open to students currently in year 10, 11 and 12 who wish to study medicine and who are looking for advice and activity that should enhance their applications for medical school. You will experience anatomy, learn clinical skills such as taking patient histories, checking blood pressure, and find out about clinical ethics, as well as taking an in-depth look at personal statements and interviews. With BSMS students on hand to talk to, you will get a real insight into life as a medical student.
Places are limited and students will be selected according to a number of criteria. However applications are welcome from students who study at any state school or college.

BrightMed aims to identify young people with the potential to become tomorrow’s doctors and who can contribute towards increased diversity within the medical profession, thus allowing medicine to better reflect the patient population. For more information click here.
