studying anatomy

You will also study living anatomy: for example looking for surface landmarks on your own and others' skin to locate organs, and investigating how different joints work.

'The anatomy classes are really good - they help me visualise what we are learning.'
Deepa Bangaru-Raju, year 2

Students and staff attend an annual memorial service for those who have donated their bodies

'The integrated nature of the course allows you to apply knowledge acquired in lectures to clinical situations right from the word go. Human cadaver dissection gives a fascinating insight into the spatial relationships of the structures within the human body. This unique method of “hands-on” learning helps you to understand the links between anatomical structure and function; you just can't get this sense of realism from a textbook drawing!

'Although the initial confrontation with death can be a time of some anxiety, active participation in the practical sessions is most definitely the key to alleviating these natural fears. The genuine enthusiasm of our lecturers and tutors makes the information easier to digest and understand.'

James Bennett, year 3
