Clinical Imaging Sciences Centre

Located in the heart of the University of Sussex campus, CISC is a purpose-built interdisciplinary research, imaging and teaching facility that draws together a dynamic range of researchers and their interests.

We are a joint venture between the Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the School of Psychology and School of Life Sciences at the University of Sussex.

Our aim is to facilitate cutting-edge, world-class research into areas as diverse as addiction, emotion, consciousness, psychophysiological mechanisms, neurological disorders, cognitive and social performance, inflammatory disorders, cancer, dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Designed as a multi-user facility, CISC offers multimodal and quantitative imaging in addition to opportunities for integrative imaging to researchers from across the universities. One of the areas of particular strength at CISC is imaging neuroscience, in close collaboration with other members of Sussex Neuroscience. CISC has played a central role in facilitating an array of high profile projects in neuroscience.

We also work closely with colleagues from the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science, which seeks to unravel the complex neural networks underpinning conscious experience in health and disease. If you want to use CISC facilities for your research, read more about research at CISC.
