ACADEMIC VACANCIES

Research Fellow in the Centre for Equitable Global Health (Maternity Cover)

Hours: Part time, with a minimum of 0.4 FTE up to a maximum of 0.5 FTE/18.75 hours per week. Requests for flexible working options will be considered (subject to business need).
Salary: Grade 7 starting at £38,249 to £45,413 per annum, pro rata if part time.
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

You will support the Centre for Global Health Research (CGHR) situated within the Department of Global Health & Infection at Brighton & Sussex Medical School. Centre of Excellence status was awarded in 2023 by the University of Sussex in recognition of the international reputation of the CGHR, its success in winning external funding and the impact generated by its research. CGHR is a partnership of approximately 25 institutions in the UK and 16 ODA recipient countries.

Senior Research Fellow in Public Health

This Senior Research Fellow position will contribute to the development and delivery of primary and community health research activities collaboratively delivered by the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The post holder will play a key role in preparing a grant proposal to support the Impact and Scalability activity of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The proposal will focus on the production of an evidence-based evaluation of the ‘Growing Health Together’ initiative, which presents a placed-based community development model designed to support sustainable primary and community care provision.

Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Honorary Consultant)

Hours: Full time. Requests for flexible working options will be considered (subject to business need).
Salary: Consultant NHS Pay Scale - Dependent on clinical work being undertaken in the NHS. If this is not the case, your salary will be assessed based on your skills, experience and relevant qualifications to allocate your pay to the appropriate pay grade of University of Sussex Pay scales.

BSMS is inviting applications for the post of Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Honorary Consultant). We are specifically seeking an enthusiastic clinical pharmacologist who is innovative in their approach to teaching and learning and also interested in research. An interest in clinical pharmacology education and an established academic track record in this subject area is advantageous.

As a Research Fellow in Laboratory and Computational Systems Biology Cancer Research you will lead the delivery of cutting-edge interdisciplinary research project that combines computational systems biology and laboratory science to better treat cancers. This role builds on breakthrough results showing that computational models can predict how lymphoma patients respond to therapy, and expands these approaches to multiple cancers. This project will also focus on experimentally developing biomarkers that will enable systems biology models to predict response to therapy in the clinic.

Brighton and Sussex Medical School invites applications for a new senior development manager to lead a fundraising programme supporting both the Medical School and My University Hospitals Sussex, the dedicated charity for local hospitals across Sussex. Working closely with the Medical School Secretary, the Dean of the Medical School, My University Hospitals Sussex, and the major gifts team within the University of Sussex Development and Alumni Relations Office, you’ll play a strategic role in identifying new prospects, developing major gift proposals to cultivate and solicit leadership and major gifts from individuals, including BSMS alumni, as well as from corporates, trusts and foundations. You will provide line management to the Development Manager in your team.

Salary: Grade 4 starting at £25,733 to £29,179 per annum, pro rata if part time. This role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.

This role is part of a job share, working part of the full time hours of 36.5 hours per week. The successful applicant will be required to work 21.9 hours across 3 days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday).
