ACADEMIC VACANCIES

Research Fellow in Public Health and Social Care

Hours: Part time of 0.5 FTE / 18.75 hours per week over 2.5 days.
Salary: Grade 7 starting at £38,784 to £46,049 per annum, pro rata if part time.
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

The Research Fellow will be part of a 2-year project funded by the NIHR Research Programme for Social Care looking at how homecare supports the food and drink needs of older adults in the UK, with a focus on quality of life and socio-cultural aspects of eating, drinking, and care. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the PI with day-to-day research and knowledge mobilisation activities. You will play a key role in conducting document analysis and semi-structured interviews with a range of participants, analysing qualitative data, and co-leading participatory workshops. The poster holder will be expected to contribute to the write-up of findings as well as research publications and, where required, funder reports.

Research Assistant in Public Health

Hours: 0.4FTE (15 hours per week) between 15.09.25 and 14.12.25; 1.FTE (37.5 hours per week) between 15.12.25 and 31.03.26. Requests for flexible working options will be considered (subject to business need).
Salary: Grade 6 starting at £34,610 to £38,784 per annum, pro rata if part time.

CTU Data Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a data manager to join the Brighton and Sussex Clinical Trials Unit. As Data Manager you will work within the data team on a mixed portfolio of projects. The role involves data review and discrepancy management to ensure data quality and consistency; development of Case Report Forms (CRFs), Data Management Plans (DMPs), Clinical Trial Databases and implement data validation and quality control procedures for individual trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. Appropriate study training will be provided.

Brighton and Sussex Medical School invites applications for the post of Senior Assessment Co-ordinator. As a key member of the Curriculum Support Team, the post-holder will have specific responsibility for organising practical examination delivery and delivery of national examinations. Based at the University of Brighton Falmer campus, the post-holder will be responsible to the Clinical Assessment Team Manager and will work closely with members of BSMS faculty and administrative colleagues, liaising with appropriate colleagues in other administrative and academic units in the parent universities, and colleagues in the partner NHS Trusts.

Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated manager to lead its Phase 1 Curriculum and Assessment team on a Fixed term contract of up to one year. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all administrative aspects of Phase 1 teaching and assessment, including timetabling, student support, and the delivery of assessments such as Knowledge Tests. The post-holder will manage a team of professional services staff and work closely with senior academic and clinical colleagues to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of Years 1 & 2 of the undergraduate medical curriculum.
