Disability Subgroup

The BSMS Disability Subgroup consists of staff members and disability champions, and all staff are welcome to join. We meet on a termly basis to raise issues about building and digital accessibility across the school, share experiences and ideas and discuss how we can make BSMS more progressive and inclusive to our staff and students living with any sort of disability. The groups objectives include:

  • To raise awareness of disability equality issues within the school
  • Identify problem areas and take responsibility for ensuring that solutions are put in place at an operational level
  • Strive to ensure that BSMS has an inclusive and supportive environment for students and staff with disabilities, encouraging them to be their best self and achieve what they want to achieve
  • Encourage others to see past stigmas that are linked to a person’s disability but see their achievements, actions and ideas

If you are interested in joining the Disability Subgroup please email inclusivity@bsms.ac.uk.

Disability Confident at the Universities of Brighton and Sussex

As a joint venture between the Universities of Brighton and Sussex, we are guided by the governance frameworks of our parent institutions as well as the national requirements as defined by the General Medical Council and the Quality Assurance Agency

The Universities of Brighton and Sussex have both adopted ‘Disability Confident’, a government scheme to support equality and diversity in staff recruitment practices.
