The Leadership and Education Fellows (LEFs) project aims to enhance the quality of Trust-based education and training, as perceived by trainees and Trusts.
These innovative Fellowships, made available through Health Education England Kent, Surrey and Sussex (HEEKSS), provide an excellent opportunity for career-minded Higher Specialty Trainees with an interest in medical education and leadership, who want to give more dedicated time to develop in this area, whilst maintaining some clinical duties.
This project is being managed by Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and Fellows will complete post graduate certificate level studies in medical education, leadership and quality here.
Fellows are employed by the relevant participating Trust, where they spend 40% of their time on clinical duties. The rest of their time is spent on leading education improvement projects and completing the bespoke development programme including the PGCert.
Fellows lead on projects focusing on GMC survey results, working with trainees, consultant staff and managers to identify root causes of areas of concern and take forward projects to address them.
