Biography

Dr Vanessa Fludder, is a consultant anaesthetist based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Her clinical work focuses on vascular anaesthesia and peri-operative medicine. She has an interest in peri-operative echocardiography and is co-founder of the Bedside Echo for Anaesthetists Training (BEAT) course. She is a member of the Sussex Peri-operative Research team and is working on the role of POC platelet function testing in peri-operative decision making.  She is the current chair of the Vascular Anaesthesia Society of Great Britain and Ireland.

Research

Supervisor of BSMS individual research projects with a high rate of success winning prizes in national and international conference presentations.  Main interests are in point of care testing and peri-operative echo, and quality improvement projects related to vascular surgery.

Teaching

Educational Supervisor to Foundation and Speciality doctors, personal tutor to BSMS students.  Regular teaching commitments include clinical and educational supervision courses, BSMS year 3 POCUS sessions, vascular anaesthesia for anaesthetic residents, bedside echo for anaesthethetists.
