About these sessions

Personal statements can be a complex and time-consuming stage of the UCAS application. Indeed, many students will write at least eight drafts before they are happy to submit their final statements.

Medical schools use personal statements in different ways. Some, like BSMS, will not read at them at any point. Others may score them as part of their assessment of an applicant and some may ask candidates about their statement at the interview stage.

In this session we will be look at the typical structure of a personal statement as well as what sort of content medicine admissions teams will expect to see.

We will cover common mistakes and misconceptions about personal statements, as well as the dos and don’ts of what to include.

This talk will be conducted via the Zoom videoconferencing software.

There will be a session for students at 11am and a session for parents/guardians at 6pm. Each session will last for approximately one hour.
