About this session

General Practice in the UK is fairly unique. We help people and communities of all ages with all possible problems and concerns. This is done through relationship-based care, where much is hidden, unspoken, or mysterious to an onlooker. Through the magic of the consultation, much can be conveyed, assessed, and managed. By lifting the lid on the ‘black box’ thinking that goes on, this talk will illustrate how the magic intuition or ‘gut feeling’ saves lives and makes holistic care in such a short space of time possible.

This lecture is part of the Brighton and Sussex Medical School's Monthly Lecture Series, designed for secondary school and college students. This lecture series, running from October 2021 through to July 2022, provides a unique opportunity for students to learn more about different aspects of medicine, career pathways, and how to get into medicine.

This talk will be held in person at the Medical Teaching Building, University of Sussex. If government or university policy changes in regard to Covid-19 we will contact you and inform you. You will be provided with details of our Covid-19 guidelines in your confirmation email.

If you have any questions about this event, or the Monthly Lecture Series, please email the Outreach Team via outreach@bsms.ac.uk.

Please note, we do not provide certificates of attendance for any of our online talks or lectures in the Monthly Lecture Series.
