Learning Human Anatomy as a Medical Student

About this session

While most universities in the United Kingdom (UK) still teach anatomy through cadaveric dissection and cadaveric prosection sessions, there are now a number of excellent virtual resources that are also used to teach anatomy.

In May’s Monthly Lecture, Danya Stone will discuss how anatomy is taught at BSMS compared to other institutions in the UK. This will be followed by an introduction to the anatomy of the head and neck, taught using complete anatomy software.

Danya Stone has been an anatomy lecturer at BSMS since 2019. Danya primarily delivers anatomy teaching to first - and second - year medical students and leads the anatomy teaching for module 103 (Heart, Lungs and Blood). Danya also contributes to teaching on Biomedical Science and Medical Education courses as well as the Physician Associate Programme. Danya has an interest in anatomy education research and is currently completing a part time PhD that explores the emotional experience of medical students during their first session in the dissection room.
