This talk will cover Leonie's training story, upsides and downsides of paediatrics, how Leonie's role has evolved over time, current training pathways and "hot" topics.
Dr Leonie Perera qualified from King’s College London in 2000 (MBBS). After house jobs and casualty jobs in London, she undertook paediatric training rotating through London tertiary level and district general hospitals. She was appointed Paediatric Consultant at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (RACH) 13 years ago. Leonie works in the Children's Emergency Department and Children's High Dependency Unit /Critical Care. Regular duties also involve undertaking Child Protection Medicals on behalf of Social Services. She is the Named Doctor for Queen Victoria NHS Trust (Burns/Surgical Specialities) providing training and case advice.
