About this conference

We are delighted to invite you to the Regional Education Fellows Conference, hosted by Dr Geoff Wells, Academic Lead for Education Fellows at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), on Thursday 18 June 2026.

Registration opens at 9:30am, with the programme running until 4:15pm. The conference will take place in the Medical Teaching Building on the University of Sussex campus.

This event brings together education fellows from across the region to explore best practice, celebrate innovation and strengthen our collaborative community. 

The conference is an opportunity for you to deliver a presentation or poster at regional level.

We also have wokshops including what makes a good OSCE station and how to develop mock OSCE’s for BSMS students.

How to register

Registration for the conference is now open. Please note there is £10 registration admin fee and you will need to complete the short registration form to secure your place.

Spaces are limited, so early sign‑up is encouraged.

Travel information – getting to BSMS

The University of Sussex campus is well connected by public transport and active travel routes: 

By train

Falmer Station is a short walk from the Medical Teaching Building—approximately 5–7 minutes via the underpass. Regular trains run from:

  • Brighton (around 9 minutes)
  • Lewes (around 7 minutes)
  • Eastbourne / Seaford / Hastings with connections via Lewes or Brighton. 

By bus

Several routes stop directly outside campus on the A27/Falmer Station side, including frequent services from:

  • Brighton city centre (23, 25, 28, 29)
  • Lewes and East Sussex (28, 29)

Buses drop you within a short walk of the Medical Teaching Building. 

By bicycle

The campus is accessible by dedicated cycle paths linking:

  • Brighton and the seafront
  • Lewes via National Cycle Network routes 

Secure bike racks are located close to the Medical Teaching Building.

Abstract submission

Abstract submissions for the Regional Education Fellows Conference are now open.

If you would like to present your work at the Regional Education Fellows Conference, co‑hosted by senior academics at BSMS, you are invited to submit an abstract describing the work you plan to present. We are particularly interested in submissions that align with one or more of the conference’s core themes:

  • Medical Education
  • Teaching and learning in clinical environments
  • Innovation in learning resources, assessment design, accessibility, and sustainability 

We are also accepting submissions under our broader additional themes:

  • Equity, inclusion, professionalism, and learner dignity
  • Education policy and implementation
  • Health literacy and curriculum development 

The deadline for abstract submission is Friday 17 April.

The conference is an opportunity for you to deliver a presentation or poster at regional level.
