Anatomist and TV presenter awarded with honorary degree

Professor Alice Roberts, clinical anatomist, author and broadcaster, has become an honorary Doctor of Medicine at this year's graduation.

Prof Roberts joined BSMS graduands at the ceremony on 15 July, where she was presented with her degree by Prof Malcolm Reed, Dean of BSMS.

A qualified medical doctor, Alice Roberts is Professor of Public Engagement in Science at the University of Birmingham. Her academic work includes teaching anatomy and evolutionary anthropology, and conducting research.

Prof Roberts demonstrates an ongoing commitment to promoting public engagement with science, appearing as an expert presenter on numerous television programmes including: Time Team, Don't Die Young, Incredible Human Journey, Origins of Us, Prehistoric Autopsy, Timewatch, and several episodes of Horizon – the BBC's flagship science programme. She also regularly delivers public talks expanding on themes from her research, television programmes and books.
