Your voice matters: NSS results 2025

At BSMS, we deeply value the views of our students and the role they play in shaping our community. This year’s National Student Survey (NSS) shows how powerful your feedback can be, with BSMS reporting significant success across all major domains – including teaching, learning opportunities, academic support and student voice, areas which were targeted in our 2024 NSS plan.

We are especially proud to have achieved one of the highest response rates of any UK medical school, with 85% of final-year students sharing their views. This feedback has already led to changes, from improvements in teaching modules and resources, to clearer communication and new support initiatives.

Dr Tom Levett, Director of Undergraduate Teaching and Learning at BSMS, said: “We are really grateful to every student who took the time to complete the survey. Your voice is central to how we shape the education and experience here at BSMS. These results reflect the hard work of colleagues across the school, but more importantly, they show that when students share their views, we can act on them to make a real difference.”

Looking ahead, BSMS is committed to using your feedback to strengthen areas where you told us we can improve. This includes assessment and placements, where we know consistency and clarity matter.

“The NSS gives us an invaluable opportunity to listen, reflect and act,” Tom added. “We will continue to work closely with students to make sure their ideas and concerns directly shape our priorities. Together, we can ensure BSMS continues to be a supportive, inclusive and inspiring place to study medicine.”

Thank you to all students who took part in the NSS. Your voice continues to guide our work, and by speaking up you are helping us strive for excellence in medical education, inclusion and wellbeing.
