Staff development

BSMS endeavours to empower and support all BSMS staff by providing development opportunities including mentoring, job shadowing, career progression workshops for academic and research staff and funding for all staff to attend training courses and conferences related to roles.

BSMS staff (employed by the University of Sussex) have access to a wide range of staff development opportunities including workshops, lectures and courses to develop skills and knowledge: 

  • Leadership and management programmes

  • Staff Apprenticeship Scheme

Mentoring opportunities

Academic and Research Staff

Mentoring plays a key part in career progression so we encourage all staff to take part. BSMS offer a one-to-one mentoring scheme for Academic and Research staff which is open for applications from both mentees and mentors at the start of each academic year. Please email inclusivity@bsms.ac.uk for further information. 

Professional Services and Technical Staff

All BSMS staff can apply to be a mentee or mentor as part of the University of Sussex or University of Brighton mentoring programmes.Full details are available via the links below.
