Community health volunteers

We are looking for enthusiastic, non-judgemental volunteers to sign up to receive fully funded motivational behaviour change training from the National Centre for Behaviour Change UK (NCBC). You do not need to have any specific qualifications or previous experience with health coaching.

Volunteers will act as Community Health Volunteers for the SPICES project. At each location, the Community Health Volunteers will be supported by the local community organisations. As a Community Health Volunteer you will provide one to one coaching sessions via Zoom to participants from your own community to set goals to improve their health and support them to achieve these goals to improve their overall heart health.

The areas that we are recruiting from include:

  • Whitehawk
  • Hangleton and the Knoll
  • Hastings
  • St. Leonards
  • Newhaven

Our volunteers are key to the overall success of the SPICES project.

Become a participant

  • Do you need some help with making healthier choices?
  • Are you thinking about making some changes and would like some additional support?
  • Take our 5-minute survey and find out if you’re eligible for FREE online health coaching at https://is.gd/SPICES_SUSSEX2

The survey will let you know what your current heart health is. If you are in the moderate risk group then you are eligible to receive free one to one health coaching sessions with a training Community Health Volunteer who is from your area.

All of our Community Health Volunteers have received tailored Behaviour motivation training for the project from the National Centre for Behaviour Change. The Community Health Volunteers are volunteers from the same area as you, they are not healthcare professionals but will be able to provide you with positive encouragement, tools to support sustainable lifestyle changes and local groups/resources in your area.

If you have any other questions about the project please refer to the FAQs, or email SPICES.Sussex@bsms.ac.uk
