Campus life and accommodation

One of the key benefits of studying at BSMS is being a member of both the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton, as well as being a student at BSMS as a standalone institution. This means students have access to all campuses and facilities at both universities.

BSMS students in their first year will have a choice of living in either University of Sussex or University of Brighton-managed accommodation.

First year BSMS students can choose from Lewes Court Phases I and II on the University of Sussex campus, or Paddock Field on the University of Brighton campus. Choosing university-managed accommodation will also ensure you are placed solely with medical students in your first-year housing.

Lewes Court

Lewes Court is divided into two Phases to reflect the difference in living arrangements. Phase I is specifically for shared accommodation, while Phase II has en-suite bathrooms, but all rooms are self-catered.

As of the 2020/21 academic year, pricing for the shared option has been set at £123 per week, while an en-suite room costs £160.40 per week. For a student perspective on what life in Lewes Court is like, you can watch the short video below.

Paddock Field

Like Lewes Court, there are two options within Paddock Field in terms of living arrangements – while all flats are en-suite, some are catered and some are self-catered. This is reflected in their relative prices.

For 2020 entry, the price for the self-catered Paddock Field option has been set at £144 per week while a catered room for the year is £174 per week. You can use the tool below for a 360° tour of the flats.
