Neuroscience

From the laboratory through to clinical studies, our groundbreaking neuroscience research explores the function of the nervous system in both health and disease.

Our strengths in neurodegeneration (Centre for Dementia Studies and Motor Neurone Disease), biological psychiatry and neuroimaging (CISC) underpin our ethos of ‘from bench to bedside'.

Centre for Dementia Studies

The Centre for Dementia Studies (CDS) works to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and their carers by improving the quality of treatment and care they receive. CDS is also home to Time for Dementia, an award-winning programme to develop, deliver and evaluate an innovative educational initiative, a longitudinal programme in dementia.

Symposium: Challenging stereotypes: Novel perspectives on autism

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition in which patterns of social interaction, emotional communication and behaviour differ from the majority neurotypical population. These differences arise in development and can be expressed along a spectrum from marked disability and impairment to unique individual talents and abilities.

This symposium seeks to challenge stereotyped views of autism, harnessing the lived experience of autistic people.
