Training and courses

Whilst there is no specialist or mandatory training required when teaching undergraduate students, you may benefit from attending the Teaching and Innovation in Medical Education (TIME) course which covers the following:

  • Understanding the BSMS curriculum and structure
  • Theories of teaching and learning for small or large groups
  • Planning your teaching session
  • Using digital technologies to enhance learning and teaching

If you are interested in attending, or if you would like to be informed of future dates for this course, please contact the Department of Medical Education at: dme@bsms.ac.uk

We also run a brief online Zoom meeting for new GP teachers to learn more about the Year 4 placement format and learning objectives/outcomes. All new (and existing GPs) are welcome to attend this brief introduction to the longitudinal placement, with time for QA at the end. This session is expected to last between 30 minutes and an hour. Dates will be added here once scheduled.

Registration for both events is needed in advance, as this will generate your joining instructions and further information.
